Story

The story of how I came into financial advisory is an interesting one. In my formative years, I always wanted to model after my father, who was both a businessman and a salesman, life was comfortable for me and my family early on.

But then came 2014, where my family started going through a series of unfortunate events. My dad’s business went through some bumps and business started taking a turn for the worse, that set our family in a state of financial crisis.

Knowing that my family could use some financial help, I decided that the day I completed my National Service, I would want to start working to help out the family. And in my time serving the nation and juggling with the issues faced at home, I got very involved into financial planning. My dad started showing me the ropes of what proper financial planning did for him in this rainy season that our family was going through and how we managed to tie through it.

When my mum and him were younger, they decided that it would be wise to set aside money for an education plan for both my siblings and I. That helped them alleviate some financial stress.

And all these, sparked an interest in me to pursue a career in financial advisory, and my drive and passion behind what I do is so that the people I come into contact with and speak to them about finances, what proper planning could potentially do for them, and hopefully never have to experience what me and my family did.

The journey to start this career was an arduous one, since 2017, I’ve had to take a total of 3 diplomas and that doesn’t even scratch the surface of the countless other sacrifices that I had to make just so that I can finally be qualified to embark on this journey of financial advisory. I wouldn’t have been able to do it without the help and the support of my family.

Finally, in 2020, I am able to stand tall and proud and call myself a financial consultant. And from where I started, after meeting Reuben in late 2020, I can say that after more than half a year, I have grown leaps and bound in becoming a more competent, driven, and professional consultant.

My name is Gideon, that was my life’s journey, and it would be my honour to walk with you through yours.
