Story

Hello, I’m Marcus, and I am currently an undergraduate at Nanyang Technological University of Singapore pursuing a degree in Materials Science.

Growing up, I was blessed and grateful to be brought up in a loving and nurturing environment. I had no major worries in my adolescent years aside from the usual stress to perform during major school examinations.

I’ve lived an average life and comfortable life, with a simple goal in mind – to enter a local university, find a decent pay job and start a family. In other words, the “Singapore Dream”.

However, deep down in me, I always felt like I’m destined for something more, that I was set out for a greater purpose.

Few years ago, I ticked a major box when I enrolled into NTU. As I pursued the degree I chose, I often find myself feeling “incomplete”.

I started to reflect and question myself…

“ Is this degree going to warrant me a decent job?”

“ Do I truly enjoy doing what I am doing as a career in the future?”

“ How can I add value to society?”

It was a struggle trying to seek the purpose I want in life. As chance would have it, I received a traineeship opportunity and came across this industry that I was initially clueless about.

After much deliberation, I decided to take the leap of faith and agreed to undergo this traineeship to widen my knowledge.

Now, having dived deeper into the industry, I came to understand the beauties of this career. As I came across real life examples of beneficiaries of insurance, it gave me a timely reminder of how fickle life can be.

An example that always stayed with me is when I saw the news of a friend who lost her life in a car accident a few years back. Her parents became distraught and from a happy and comfortable life, they had to deal with immense grief from the passing of their child.

Even in our small country , the number of cases where sole breadwinners encounter with accidents or healthy individuals being diagnosed with critical illnesses is more than we can imagine. With adequate financial planning, these victims and their family were able to tide through difficult times.

I saw the impact financial planning is able to put forth which is the ability to protect ourselves from unforeseen circumstances. Personally, I am a firm believer that proper financial planning is done out of love and concern for yourself and people around you in the event something bad happens. Now, I can say that I have found my calling to be able to help others to safeguard their future by educating them the importance of financial planning.

Life is a journey, and everyone has their own path to take. I wish to steer each and every one of your ship towards your desired goals in life through proper financial planning.

I am Marcus, and I hope to guide you through life’s adventures.
